Colon hydrotherapy in Coeur d'Alene

What it is, who it helps, and what it isn't. Written for the person who has been curious for a while and never asked.

What it actually is

Colon hydrotherapy, also called a colonic or colon irrigation, is a gentle rinse of the large intestine with filtered, temperature-controlled water. The water goes in slowly, the colon fills and releases, and the cycle repeats over about forty minutes. Nothing is forced. You are covered the whole time, in a private room, one client at a time.

Llolyn works on a Prime Health APS-100, a closed system that can run anywhere from a gentle gravity flow up to controlled, medical-grade pressure. That range is the point: a nervous first-timer and a fifth-session client do not get the same session.

Llolyn's approach is different from a spa colonic. Before anything happens, you talk. Then an abdominal exam and digestive screening, so the session is tuned to what your body is doing, not a script.

Who it helps

People come in because their digestion is telling them something and they are tired of guessing.

Bloating
Gas
Constipation
Irregular stools
Abdominal discomfort
Feeling sluggish or heavy

Others come during a cleanse or purification program, before or after a course of medication, or because a practitioner they trust sent them. The gastrointestinal tract is the body's largest immune organ, and what happens there shows up everywhere else.

What it isn't

It is not a cure for anything, it is not a weight loss method, and it is not a replacement for your physician. It is one tool, used with nutrition, herbs, detoxification and lifestyle changes you can actually keep. If Llolyn does not think it is right for you, she will tell you, and you will still leave with a better understanding of your digestion.

When it is not appropriate

Recent abdominal or rectal surgery, an active flare of inflammatory bowel disease, pregnancy, severe hemorrhoids, an abdominal hernia, uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart conditions, and some other situations. This is exactly what the screening at your first visit is for.

Also available, on request

Two things Llolyn offers alongside a session when they fit what you came in for. Neither is on the menu as a package; ask when you book and she will tell you whether it makes sense for you.

Red light therapy

Red and near-infrared light applied to the body for a set number of minutes, usually before or after a session while you are already in the room. People use it for skin, for sore muscles and joints, for circulation, and because it is simply a calm ten or fifteen minutes. It is non-invasive, there is no heat to speak of, and it pairs easily with a colon hydrotherapy visit because you are already here. Llolyn will tell you whether it adds anything for what you came in for.

Lymphatic support

The lymphatic system is how the body moves waste out of the tissues, and it does not have a pump of its own; it depends on movement, hydration and the gut doing its job. Llolyn approaches it from the nutrition and elimination side first, because a sluggish colon and a sluggish lymph system usually go together, and she adds specific support when your history calls for it. If you have puffiness that comes and goes, heaviness in the legs, or you are mid-way through a detox program, this is worth asking about.

Questions people ask before they book

Does it hurt?

Most people describe pressure and a feeling of fullness during the fills, then relief. Llolyn adjusts the flow and temperature to you and stops whenever you ask.

How long does a session take?

The session itself is about 40 minutes; plan on an hour on the calendar. Your first visit is booked for an hour and fifteen minutes, which includes the exam and time to talk.

How should I prepare?

Eat lightly the day before, drink water, and avoid a big meal in the two hours before you come in. Llolyn goes over the rest when you book.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on why you came in. Some people come once; many do a short series and then space them out. You will leave your first visit with a plan and an honest answer, not a sales pitch.

Is it safe?

Llolyn is an I-ACT certified colon hydrotherapist with more than forty years in healthcare. Sessions use filtered, temperature-controlled water and single-use equipment on a closed-system Prime Health APS-100. There are conditions where colon hydrotherapy is not appropriate; the screening at your first visit is where those are ruled out.

Will it help me lose weight?

Colon hydrotherapy is not a weight loss method. People often feel lighter afterward, and some see changes as digestion improves alongside nutrition changes, but that is not what the session is for.

Curious but hesitant?

Most people are, the first time. Llolyn would love to talk with you before you decide anything.
